Angelina Jolie is preparing for a new chapter overseas following the end of her custody agreement with former husband Brad Pitt.

In a rare interview with L’Officiel published on September 9, the ‘Maleficent’ actress revealed plans to leave Los Angeles, where she was born and raised her six children – Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18.

The 51-year-old star had previously said she could not leave Los Angeles until her children turned 18. She has already taken steps towards that future, putting her Los Feliz estate on the market for US$29.85 million in May.

“It’s the end of a certain time for me,” Jolie said.

However, she does not plan to settle permanently in one place. Instead, she hopes to live a more nomadic lifestyle while expanding her creative brand, Atelier Jolie, overseas.

“The hope for the Atelier was always to be global; Brazil might become the first space that we open outside of the US,” she said.

Jolie also plans to visit different locations around the world to meet local artists and makers. At the same time, she intends to resume more hands-on humanitarian work with her foundation in Cambodia, including field work.

Embracing the freedom of this new chapter, Jolie said she does not “really plan to have a base”.

“I’d like to have a home base for my family, a place where some of the mum stuff and the family photos are. And then I’d like to be a bit nomadic for a while,” she said.

She added that her home in Cambodia would also serve as a residency for several months each year, allowing her to immerse herself in Khmer culture.
