KOTA SAMARAHAN: A genset supplying electricity to a telecommunications tower in Jalan Kuap, Samarahan was completely destroyed after it caught fire yesterday (Sept 16) afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 2.27pm before firefighters from Siburan Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 2.58pm.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the fire involved one genset which supplied power to the telecommunications tower.
The genset was reported to have been completely destroyed in the blaze.
Firefighters then launched an operation to extinguish the fire using water drawn from an open water source.
The firefighting team used an offensive attack technique to bring the fire under control at 3.10pm. No casualties were reported in the incident.
A total of nine firefighters were involved in the operation and three police personnel were also present at the scene.
The operation ended at 3.30pm.
The team subsequently returned to the station at 4.10pm.
