KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar attended the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya at Istana Negara here today.

It is understood that today’s meeting was held in connection with former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s pardon application, which was deferred on Sept 11.

Najib, 73, has been serving his prison sentence at Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022.

Local and international media personnel gathered near the main entrance of Istana Negara from early morning to follow developments on the meeting.

Earlier, a vehicle carrying Hannah was seen entering the main entrance of Istana Negara at 7.45 am, while a vehicle carrying Mohd Dusuki arrived seven minutes later.

Hannah was later seen leaving Istana Negara first, followed by Mohd Dusuki at 9.43 am after the meeting.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board is chaired by the King and comprises the Attorney-General, the Minister responsible for the Federal Territories, and three other members appointed by His Majesty.

Under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the power to grant pardons, as well as the final decision on such matters concerning offences committed in the Federal Territories, rests with the King.
