MIRI: Three men have been arrested after video footage of a brawl outside an entertainment outlet in Miri’s Marina Phase 2 went viral on social media.
Police said they detected three separate video clips circulating online at about 11.21am on Sunday (Sept 20) showing a group of men involved in a physical altercation outside the premises.
The clips, lasting 18, 26 and 15 seconds, quickly drew attention on social media and prompted police to begin efforts to identify those involved.
A police report was lodged by the Miri District Criminal Investigation Division at about 2.24pm the same day.
Following investigations, police arrested three men in the Miri city area to assist with inquiries into the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum sentence of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
