PADAWAN: Voters should decide whether their elected representatives have delivered, says GPS incumbent for Mambong constituency, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

Dr Jerip, who is also Deputy Transport Minister, said years of groundwork and the implementation of government-funded projects formed the basis for the people to assess his service.

“We have been working very hard on the ground for many years, including throughout the past five years, and we have delivered.

“Now it is up to the people to decide whether we have delivered well or otherwise. It goes back to the people,” he said when met by reporters after officiating at the 2026 Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance Programme licence presentation ceremony at Kasah Event Centre here today.

On his chances of defending Mambong for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Dr Jerip preferred to let his record of service speak for itself.

He said government funding had supported development efforts in the constituency, with work continuing on the ground over the past five years.

Among the developments previously reported in Mambong is a RM12.6-million water supply system at Kampung Bengoh, which Dr Jerip said in June had benefited Kampung Jambu and surrounding areas previously affected by low water pressure.

Street lighting from the Puncak Borneo Prison junction to Kampung Garung had also been completed, while a further phase was planned along the stretch towards Kampung Annah Rais.

Separately, 16 Rural Transformation Programme projects involving 13 villages under the Padawan sub-district administration were approved for 2026, with an allocation of RM3.6 million.

Housing assistance has also been announced, with RM500,000 allocated for repairs to 32 homes under the second phase of the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme for 2026, scheduled to begin in October.

However, Dr Jerip declined to speculate on whether he would be retained as a GPS candidate for the coming state general election, saying he could not comment at this stage.

On whether his years of service had earned sufficient public confidence in his leadership, Dr Jerip again left the assessment to his constituents.

“Let them answer. Let them answer themselves,” he said.
