KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has issued commemorative coins in conjunction with the installation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as the sixteenth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30.

In a statement yesterday, BNM said the commemorative coins were presented to Sultan Abdullah on July 26 by the
governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus at Istana Negara.

“The gold commemorative coin is made of gold, with 999.9 purity and weighs 7.96 grams. It has a face value
of RM100 and will be sold at RM1,800 a piece. The mintage quantity is 300 pieces.

“The silver commemorative coin is made of fine silver with 99.9 purity and weighs 31.1 grams.  It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM200 a piece. The mintage quantity is 1,500 pieces,” said the central bank.

Meanwhile, the Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated commemorative coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM12 a piece and the mintage quantity is 20,000 pieces.

One thousand units of two coin sets, comprising one silver proof and one Nordic gold proof coin, are also
available at RM230 per set.

“To provide a fair opportunity for members of the public to buy these
limited edition coins, each buyer may only purchase a set of two, a gold coin, a silver coin and up to three Nordic Gold coins.  – Bernama

“The public can place and pay for their orders online from Aug 19,” it said, adding that in the event of oversubscription, balloting will take place. – Bernama
