MARUDI: A wooden house used for storing agriculture produce in Logan Ugga, here was razed by fire yesterday morning after a garbage fire spread to the house.
Eight firefighters led by operation commander PPgB Maureen Sim Ah Lian rushed to the scene after responding to an alert on the incident at 10.25am.
A fire volunteer squad comprising five persons from Marudi was also deployed to the scene.
According to Fire and Rescue department (Bomba)assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hii, the fire started from a garbage area outside which eventually spread to the house.
Prior to the incident, an elderly woman was burning garbage at the front yard of the house which belonged to her 33-year-old grandson.
Unfortunately, the garbage fire spread and razed the house. Swift action by firemen managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to an adjacent house. There were no reports of injuries or casualties in the incident.
