2020 State Budget
KUCHING: The 2020 State Budget announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is one that fulfills the needs, desires and aspirations of all Sarawakians.
International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said this yesterday at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
“This is what we really call as a people-centric budget. It covers all walks of life ― from the city to the rural, from newly born to school aid, from farmers to fishermen, from industrial incentive to entrepreneurship assistance, from highways to village roads and many more.
“I can say that this budget does not just fulfill all of the people’s aspirations, it is a budget that soars above everything. It is a brave budget, one that we call people-centric,” he added.
He further noted that the national budget tabled by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government could not compete with the State budget in which “PH’s budget for Sarawak is one that has disappointed Sarawakians.”
Naroden further said that from the entrepreneurship aspect, RM30 million had been approved for the Micro Credit Scheme, a simple loan scheme for small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) regardless of whether they were Bumiputera or non-Bumiputera.
“This will surely ease the entrepreneurs, including hawkers, to get assistance that are easy and fast maximum of RM50,000 with four per cent interest and if RM10,000 and below, it would be two per cent interest,” he said.
