KUCHING: The passing of the Premier’s wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, has been described as a great loss to the Sarawak civil service wives’ welfare body, the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI).

SABATI deputy president Datuk Doreen Mayang said she worked closely with the late Juma’ani throughout her service and described her as a caring, dedicated leader who was deeply concerned about the welfare of the people.

“This is a very sorrowful day for us. SABATI has lost a beloved president.

“She was highly committed to charity work and ensured aid was delivered throughout Sarawak,” she said when met by reporters while paying her last respects to Juma’ani at Masjid Jamek Negeri here today.

She explained that the late Juma’ani was actively involved in organising welfare programmes, particularly during festive seasons such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Christmas.

“She would instruct us to visit hospitals, welfare homes, and the Salvation Army to distribute contribution bags to those in need,” she added.

Doreen also described Juma’ani as a mentor and advisor to the wives of elected representatives.

“She was always there by our side, offering guidance on what SABATI should do,” she said.
