KUCHING: The launch of Makeramai Makerspace, in conjunction with the Sarawak Digital STEM Demo Day, marks a significant step in strengthening Sarawak’s digital ecosystem.
Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said that this innovation space is set to become a focal point for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to explore and develop innovative technologies.
“Makeramai Makerspace is not just a space for students but also for researchers and entrepreneurs. Here, they can collaborate and create impactful technological solutions,” he said during the launch ceremony of Makeramai Makerspace and the closing of the Sarawak Digital STEM Demo Day at Plaza Merdeka Shopping Center yesterday (Feb 21).
According to him, the success of the 18 selected students in last year’s Sarawak Digital STEM Demo Day, organised by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), was due to the continuous efforts of teachers and parents.
He expressed hope that this initiative would continue to foster students’ interest in STEM fields, especially from an early age.
Additionally, he urged more agencies and organisations to collaborate with the government in creating greater opportunities for the youth of Sarawak.
Also present was SDEC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
