BERLIN: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is leading a Sarawak government delegation on an official working visit to Berlin, Germany and Paris, France, from Sept 7 to 9.
Abang Johari and his delegation arrived here at 6.40 pm local time on Sunday (Sept 7).
Accompanying him are Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and Petros) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak Datuk Abang Ahmad Abang Morni, and Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili.
On Monday (Sept 8), Abang Johari and his delegation will visit Siemens Energy Headquarters at Huttenstraße, Berlin.
The visit will begin with a meeting with Siemens Energy executive vice-president for Global Functions, Juha Pankakoshi, followed by a tour of the company’s key facilities, namely the Electrolyser Plant, Gas Turbine Plant, and Innovation Centre.
On Tuesday (Sept 9), Abang Johari will attend the International Forum on Pumped Storage Hydropower, themed ‘Pump it up! Powering a Decarbonised World’, at the UNESCO House in Paris.
He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address underscoring Sarawak’s aspirations as a leader in green energy and as a hydrogen producer for the global market.
In addition, the Premier is set to hold bilateral meetings with French Minister for Industry and Energy Marc Ferracci, and president of the International Hydropower Association (IHA), Malcolm Turnbull.
In the afternoon, he will visit the headquarters of Électricité de France (EDF) at Avenue de Wagram, Paris, before returning to Sarawak.
This official working visit emphasises Sarawak’s commitment in building strategic international networks to advance its green energy development agenda under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint 2030, thereby strengthening the state’s position as a regional and global hub for clean energy.
