BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s delegation to Istana Nurul Iman here today for the 27th Leaders’ Annual Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
According to UKAS, Abang Johari’s participation in the working visit underscores the importance of Sarawak-Brunei relations, particularly in strengthening strategic cooperation in key areas including energy, renewable energy, the economy, agriculture and tourism.
The ALC-27, which brought together Anwar and Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, provided a platform for both leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest and further strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Brunei.
Among the areas of cooperation continuing to gain momentum is the energy sector through the Tudan-Lumut Interconnection Project (SPARK), involving Sarawak Energy and Brunei’s Department of Electrical Services.
Also accompanying the Premier in the Malaysian delegation were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and State Attorney-General Datuk Seri Saferi Ali.
During the visit, Anwar was also conferred the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati (DK) by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
