KUCHING: Air quality across Sarawak continued to improve yesterday (Sept 10), with all monitored areas recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings below 200 as of 1pm.
According to data from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) and Department of Environment (DOE), Sarikei recorded the highest reading at 189, followed by Lundu at 185 and Serian at 182.
Samarahan recorded an API of 176, followed by Kuching at 170, Samalaju at 167, Lubok Antu at 161 and Betong at 159.
Sri Aman registered 157, while Sibu and Tebedu recorded 156 each, Mukah 154 and Kanowit 152.
Meanwhile, several areas recorded moderate air quality, namely Bintulu at 95, ILP Miri at 81, Miri, Kapit and Lawas at 76 each, Limbang at 65 and Bario at 62.
Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 are considered good, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
