KUCHING: The 12th edition of the Sarawak Career and Training Fair (SCaT Fair) 2026 is expected to attract over 25,000 visitors in person and 100,000 online viewers.

The fair, to be held at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) on June 6-7 from 8.30am to 5pm, will serve as a major platform connecting students, graduates, job seekers and industry players

Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah said the event reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment towards strengthening talent development and enhancing employability.

He said the initiative also supports workforce readiness in line with the state’s future economic aspirations under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“More than 50 exhibitors comprising public and private higher education institutions, industries, government agencies, financial aid providers, TVET institutions and training organisations will participate in the fair.

“With strong support from Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (Perkeso)  in coordinating industry participation, SCaT Fair 2026 will also feature extensive walk-in interview sessions involving various industries and employers.

“To date, a total of approximately 1,982 job vacancies across multiple sectors including construction, manufacturing, services, oil and gas, and technical industries will be offered to job seekers during the programme,” he told reporters during a media conference at Tegas Digital Village on Monday (May 25).

He added that a special highlight of this year’s edition will be the Oil and Gas Zone coordinated by Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros).

“This zone will feature participation from leading players in the oil and gas industry, showcasing interactive galleries, industry exhibitions, and an Oil & Gas Sharing Corner aimed at providing insights into career opportunities, industry developments, and future workforce demands within the sector,” he added.

Additionally, he said that visitors can look forward to various side programmes and interactive activities throughout the two-day event, including the STEM Playground, Sarawak Minecraft Championship, Sarawak Rocketeer Challenges, TVET Master Competition, Career Exploration Programme (CEP), and the Planetarium Sultan Iskandar Dome.

Other activities include the Kid’s Fun Zone, Youth Got Skills, SCaT Kamboh Stage, DriveXpo, Choral Speaking Competition and TEGAS Entrepreneurs Corner.

“Do not just visit. Engage. Network. And seize this life-changing opportunity. SCaT Fair is the ultimate bridge linking talent to triumph.

“It stands at the heart of Sarawak’s vision to become a high-income, developed region filled with a skilled, visionary and future-ready workforce. Your growth is our collective progress,” he said.

Organised by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development in collaboration with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), the programme is supported by Perkeso and Petros.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to attend as the guest of honour.
