KUCHING: Christians in Kuching and beyond will soon have access to a new memorial facility with nearly 10,000 niches as the Anglican Diocese of Kuching prepares to officially launch the Anglican Columbarium Kuching on June 16.

The columbarium, located along McDougall Road, was developed with support from the state government through the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to provide a dignified and sacred resting place for the faithful departed.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will officiate the launch ceremony scheduled for 3 pm.

According to a press statement, the Anglican Diocese of Kuching said the facility would also be available to Christians from other denominations.

The Anglican Columbarium Kuching has 9,582 niches comprising single niches for one urn, double niches for two urns, and modified double niches featuring an alternative design for two urns.

Public viewing and bookings will commence following the official launch, with niche prices starting from RM7,000 depending on the type and level selected.

The prices do not include the cost of urns, engraving, cremation services or other funeral-related expenses.

Guided by the values of faithfulness, remembrance and hope, the columbarium aims to provide families with a serene and prayerful environment to honour and remember their loved ones.

Those seeking further information or reservations may contact the Anglican Columbarium Kuching at 019-8491848.
