LUNDU: Six foreigners have been ordered to return back to their country after they were caught entering Sarawak illegally yesterday (May 14).
The First Infantry Division said an army patrol team spotted a group of men walking from the Indonesia border into the state around 11.45 am in Biawak.
All of them, aged between 26 and 52, were detained for inspections as they entered the country via an illegal route, about 200 metres from the border.
“Interrogations found that the group was on their way to work in the state.
“No prohibited or dangerous items were found among the foreigners’ possessions except cash, phones, wallets and clothes with a total value of RM4,120,” the division said.
The foreigners were later escorted to the state’s border to be deported to Indonesia.
The army assured that they are committed to tightening border control and safeguarding the state’s sovereignty from any illegal entries or cross-border crimes.
