WASHINGTON DC, United States (US): The Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, led a delegation on a courtesy call to the Malaysian Consulate General in New York, as part of the delegation’s Comparative Legislative Study Tour to the US.
Upon arrival, the delegation, which included the Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus, along with several Members of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, was warmly received by the Consul-General, Norhalilah Abdul Jalil, and her team.
The visit provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on governance, international relations, and community engagement between Sarawak’s legislative representatives and Malaysia’s diplomatic mission in the US.
To mark the occasion, the consulate hosted a brunch reception featuring a fusion of Malaysian and New York cuisine, fostering a relaxed and cordial environment that encouraged informal discussions and networking.
The visit concluded with Asfia presenting a token of appreciation to Norhalilah, symbolising Sarawak’s deep appreciation for the consulate’s support and the shared commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s presence and goodwill abroad.
The courtesy call underscored the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect between the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly and Malaysia’s diplomatic representatives, further reinforcing the importance of global engagement in legislative and governmental development.
