KUCHING: Persatuan Anak Istimewa Sarawak (Perais) organised an online fertigation farming course for people with disabilities (OKU) to generate income, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The online course via Zoom was organised together with its committee members and in collaboration with HFE Agro Resources Sdn Bhd, through a statement by the association’s president Rapelson Richard Hamit.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has caused people to lose their sources of income, especially the OKU who are badly affected by it.

“Therefore, this course programme was conducted through an online platform during the imposed movement control order (MCO),” it said in a statement today (May 29).

The statement also added that the programme was supported by Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Willie Mongin in assisting the association to empower the OKU to generate income.

“Perais also intends to open a mini fertigation farm and would like to thank all parties involved in the success of this course, including Datuk Willie Mongin, HFE Agro Resources Sdn Bhd and association members,” it concluded.
