ENGKILILI: The Engkilili Community Leaders Association received RM50,000 to support efforts to strengthen community leadership at the grassroots level.

Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the allocation will help fund various community activities and strengthen the role of community leaders in supporting local development.

“The allocation is also expected to support community development programmes that directly benefit residents in the Engkilili area,” he said when officiating at the Gawai Dayak 2026 Merarau Ceremony at the Dr Johnicol Rayong Ngipa Hall, Skrang Scheme recently.

Tiong said community and grassroots leaders play an important role in connecting the government with the people by conveying local needs and helping ensure development plans are carried out effectively.

The event, organised by the Skrang Scheme Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) together with the Engkilili Community Leaders Association, attracted about 1,370 guests.

The celebration provided an opportunity for people to strengthen friendships, promote cooperation, and enhance unity among the multi-racial community in conjunction with the Hari Gawai Dayak festival.
