SIBURAN: A man was arrested after police caught him allegedly attempting to break into a shop behind commercial premises here on Wednesday (July 8).
Padawan Police Chief, Supt Barry William, said the suspect was spotted by a crime prevention patrol team at about 12:50 pm while allegedly attempting to open an aluminium roller shutter at the premises.
“Upon noticing the presence of the police, the suspect and another man fled the scene. Officers gave chase and managed to arrest one of the suspects,” he said.
The suspect is a 20-year-old unemployed local Chinese man. Checks found he had three previous drug-related records.
No items were seized during the arrest.
“The second suspect is still being traced,” Barry added.
The case is being investigated under Sections 380 and 511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft.
