SRI AMAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) office here and the police busted a warehouse used to illegally store 15,000 litres of subsidised diesel on Monday (Dec 11).
In the joint operation a local man in his 30s was arrested to assist in investigations.
KPDN Sri Aman said the team discovered 15 storage tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 litres of diesel, two lorries and equipment used in the illicit activity.
“Preliminary investigations found that the syndicate used two lorries to purchase subsidised diesel from petrol stations around Sri Aman.
“The diesel was then transported to the warehouse, stored in tanks, and subsequently transferred to another tanker for sale to a third party.
“The estimated total value of the seized lorries, diesel and equipment is RM137,550,” the ministry said.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
KPDN Sri Aman issued a stern warning it will not compromise with any party involved in the misappropriation of controlled goods.
Stringent actions, including legal prosecution under the provisions of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122) and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Act 613), will be taken.
