AZAM gets new chairman

KUCHING: Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) chief executive officer Datuk Ismawi Ismuni has been elected as the new chairman of Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak for the 2026–2028 term.

In a Facebook post, AZAM Sarawak congratulated Ismawi on his appointment, expressing confidence that his leadership would further strengthen the organisation’s role in empowering communities across the state.

“With his extensive leadership experience, strategic vision and long-standing contribution to AZAM, we are confident that his stewardship will further strengthen the Association’s mission as a communication-focused organisation committed to empowering communities through participatory communication, talent development, capacity building and innovation,” the organisation said.

AZAM said it looks forward to continued growth, stronger strategic partnerships and greater impact in supporting Sarawak’s development agenda under Ismawi’s leadership.

The organisation also recorded its deepest appreciation to outgoing chairman Datuk William Patrick Nyigor for his dedicated service over three consecutive terms from 2020 to 2026.

It said that under William’s stewardship, AZAM underwent significant organisational transformation, strengthening its role as a communication-driven organisation while introducing impactful initiatives that continue to benefit communities throughout Sarawak.
