KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak has been officially accepted as a Corporate Member of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), effective yesterday (Oct 28).

The official membership announcement was made during AZAM Sarawak’s courtesy visit to the IPRM headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, where the delegation was warmly received by IPRM president Jaffri Amin Osman.

The AZAM delegation was led by Board Member, Norjanah Haji Razali, accompanied by its chief executive officer (CEO) Tuan Ali bin Suhaili, and several senior officers of the organisation.

Ali pointed out that the membership was not only a recognition of AZAM’s role in communication but also an opportunity to strengthen the discipline of communication development in Sarawak through strategic collaboration and professional capacity building.

“The field of communication and public relations (PR) plays a vital role in supporting inclusive and sustainable community development.

“This recognition enables AZAM to expand its professional network and share expertise with government agencies such as the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) and other strategic partners,” he said in a statement issued by AZAM Sarawak yesterday (Oct 28).

He added that AZAM Sarawak is always ready to promote greater understanding and participation in the field of PR as one of the pillars of state development.

“Through the IPRM platform, we hope to strengthen a culture of professional, ethical, and effective communication among agencies and communities in Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, AZAM Sarawak’s Strategic Communication, Media, and Youth Relations manager Hassnal Hakim Junaidi, said that collaboration with IPRM will open various opportunities for AZAM in professional development and continuous learning.

“This partnership allows AZAM to actively participate in training programmes, workshops, and professional networking sessions organised by IPRM.

“Through this membership, AZAM will gain access to knowledge resources, best practice standards, and collaboration opportunities that will enhance the organisation’s communication competency.

“This not only adds value to AZAM’s communication team but also strengthens the impact of programmes we implement with communities, youth, and strategic partner agencies across the state,” he said.

He added that AZAM’s official admission into IPRM is expected to enhance the organisation’s competitiveness and credibility within the national communication landscape while supporting the state’s social and economic development agenda through effective, data-driven communication.
