KUCHING: The halal certification for Mita Cake House’s Tun Jugah outlet has been temporarily suspended following an incident involving a staff member bringing an alcoholic beverage into the premises.
In a statement issued, the company said the incident involved a can of unopened cider mixed with a lemon-flavoured carbonated drink containing low alcohol content.
The management said the matter was linked to an “irresponsible staff member” and clarified that the situation was isolated to the affected outlet.
It assured that all ingredients used and operational processes across its outlets remain halal-compliant, adding that the company is committed to maintaining proper standards at all times.
“We are currently in the process of renewing the licence for the affected outlet,” the statement read.
The company also said that halal certifications for its remaining seven outlets remain valid.
Mita Cake House expressed appreciation for the public’s concern and feedback, and thanked customers for their patience and continued support.
It also conveyed gratitude to the Muslim community for their understanding following the incident.
