BAU: The state government has approved the construction of a proposed Bau Sports Arena.
A 10-acre site within the town centre has been identified for the project, TasikBiru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep revealed at a dinner to welcome the new manager of Bau Civic Centre here on Saturday night.
Henry, however, said details of the project would be announced in due time.
“For now, suffice it to say that the proposed project has been approved, and Bau will have its own sports arena soon. The project, once implemented is scheduled for completion in two years’ time,” he added.
Henry also said that the project would be under the management of the Bau Civic Centre.
Currently, Bau Civic Centre also managed the Bau Mini Stadium.
With the completion of the Sports Arena later, the management of the Civic Centre will have added responsibility, which required it to have a strong and committed management team.
The dinner was to introduce Luke Pihee Joheng as the new manager for the Bau Civic Centre.
In his brief speech earlier, Luke, who hails from Kampung Stass, paid tribute to the previous managers and hardworking staff of the centre.
He hoped for similar cooperation to be accorded to him to ensure the smooth-running of the centre and its activities.
