SARIKEI: Two longhouses in Bintangor will be getting better amenities under Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) supervised by the Drainage and Irrigation Department here.

“One of the locations involved is Rumah Panjang Kam Gaing in Sungai Mador, which will be getting a concrete floor beneath the longhouse for various community uses,” said Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

“Meanwhile, Rumah Panjang Musa at Jalan Chai Hing will benefit from a new concrete road to facilitate residents’ daily connectivity,” he said during the project site handover ceremony to the appointed contractor on Tuesday (Sept 9).

Huang, who is Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman was  represented by Wong Soon Mee who also visited the project sites.

He emphasised that strengthening rural basic infrastructure is among his key priorities as a representative of the people in Sarikei and Repok.

“I believe that better facilities such as concrete roads and concrete flooring in longhouses will not only improve residents’ mobility but also enhance their quality of life and stimulate socio-economic activities in the area.

“My hope is that these projects will be completed on schedule,” he said.
