KUCHING: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Stampin Branch marked World Blood Donor Day 2026 by reaching beyond the occasion’s central cause and organising a community outreach programme to assist members of the Persatuan Ibu Tunggal Sarawak (Sarawak Single Mothers Association) through contributions of daily necessities.
The initiative, coordinated by MRC Stampin Branch, saw donations from Lee Jia Na, Lee Jia Oi, Christine, and Christopher Chua Soon Heng, who contributed essential goods to single mothers facing economic and social hardship.
MRC Stampin Branch chairperson Chew Kim Soon commended the sponsors for their generosity, saying the programme reflected the same values that underpin blood donation.
“World Blood Donor Day reminds us that every act of giving has the power to change lives.
“While not everyone may be able to donate blood today, everyone can contribute in their own way by supporting those who need help,” he said in a statement on Sunday (June 14).
“This donation to single mothers embodies the same humanitarian spirit that inspires blood donors around the world,” he added.
The distribution of daily necessities is intended to ease the financial burden on the recipients while promoting a more caring and inclusive society.
MRC Stampin said it remains committed to partnering with community members and donors to support welfare initiatives that benefit vulnerable individuals and families.
The branch also used the occasion to encourage the public to embrace the broader spirit of giving — through volunteerism, charitable contributions, and everyday acts of kindness — in keeping with this year’s message: “Give Blood, Give Hope. Give Kindness, Change Lives”.
