DUNGUN: The body of the second teenager who drowned in Sungai Beril near Taman Beril, Paka, on Sunday was found this morning.

Dungun acting district police chief DSP Jumaidy Bah Chong Weh said members of the public spotted the body of Muhammad Aidil Amsyar Mohd Zul-Zunaidi, 14, floating near the Paka Market jetty at 9.55 am.

He said the body of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Durian Guling student was located about two kilometres from where the incident occurred.

“Rescue personnel rushed to the location immediately after being alerted to the discovery by members of the public,” he said when contacted today.

He added that the body has been sent to the Dungun Hospital forensic unit for post-mortem examination.

Yesterday, the search and rescue team found the body of the victim’s elder brother, Muhammad Amir Ashraf, 15, at 3.47 pm, seven metres from where both brothers were reported missing.

Bernama reported that the two brothers drowned after being swept away by strong currents while swimming in Sungai Beril with two friends at 11 am yesterday.

Meanwhile, the victims’ father, Mohd Zul-Zunaidi Mohd Baldin, 40, when met at the scene, said both brothers would be laid to rest in his hometown in Melor, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, upon the completion of the post-mortem. – BERNAMA
