KUCHING: Sarawak will see significant improvements in education and healthcare facilities under the 2026 Budget, with allocations for new schools, upgraded infrastructure, and continued support for rural connectivity.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said improving school infrastructure remains a priority for the MADANI government, with nearly RM2 billion set aside to upgrade more than 520 dilapidated schools nationwide, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak.
“This includes improving student facilities and teachers’ rooms following our success in quickly repairing toilets, canteens and prayer rooms,” he said when tabling the Budget in Parliament, Kuala Lumpur, today.

In the healthcare sector, he said that Sarawak will benefit from the construction of a new health clinic in Mukah, and the accelerated implementation of the Cancer Centre in Kuching, alongside continued hospital upgrades nationwide.
Connectivity for Sarawak’s rural communities will also be maintained, with the federal government allocating RM209 million in subsidies for Rural Air Services (RAS).
“Although RAS have been handed over to the Sarawak Government, the MADANI government continues to provide RM209 million in subsidies for the benefit of rural and remote communities in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
Additionally, Anwar said RM50 million has been set aside for the repair and maintenance of non-Muslim houses of worship across the country, including in Sarawak.
“For religious premises of multi-faith communities, RM50 million is allocated for the repair and maintenance of registered non-Muslim houses of worship nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak, despite the service having been handed over to the state government,” he said.
