SARATOK: A man was killed in a fatal lorry-car collision along KM8, Jalan Saratok early this morning (Nov 29).
The incident happened around 12.50am near a Chinese cemetery when both vehicles, namely a three-tonne lorry and a Perodua Axia, were travelling in opposite directions.
A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Saratok station were despatched to the scene after receiving report that a man was trapped in his seat.
Upon arriving, the team confirmed the incident and found the driver of the car trapped in his seat.
The injured victim, who was extricated using rescue tools, was later pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene and the body was brought to the hospital for further actions.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver and his passenger were unharmed in the collision.
