KUCHING: Carlsberg Group Chief Executive Officer, Jacob Aarup Andersen, has reaffirmed Malaysia’s status as a strategic stronghold during his recent Asia tour, underscoring the nation’s pivotal role in the company’s growth.

Celebrating more than five decades of brewing excellence, Carlsberg Malaysia has continued to deliver resilient performance.

For the financial year ended December 31, 2024 (FY24), the Group recorded a 5.1 per cent rise in revenue to RM2.4 billion, and a 3.0 per cent increase in net profit to RM337.1 million.

“Asia remains a region with volume and value growth opportunities,” Andersen said recently.

“Malaysia was a key contributor to our overall performance last year, with strong growth for both the Carlsberg and 1664 brands,” he added.

The Group’s Accelerate SAIL strategy continues to drive growth through investments in brands, people and equipment.

A highlight includes the completion of a RM200 million capital expenditure (CapEx) brewery transformation in 2022 and 2024, which enhanced brewing efficiency, automation and environmental performance.

The first Carlsberg’s facility built outside Copenhagen in 1971, it now houses advanced bottling and canning lines as well as a high-precision filtration system, significantly boosting sustainability and production capacity.

Carlsberg Malaysia also leads supply chain innovation through OnePlan, an integrated planning tool launched in 2023.

Initially piloted locally, it is now being scaled across the Group’s global markets.

Not only that, Andersen, who spoke at the National Climate Governance Summit (NCGS) 2025, was recognised as one of the summit’s global climate leaders.

The event, held from April 7 to 11, brought together over 3,000 participants and global climate leaders such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), World Economic Forum, Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and S&P Global to discuss transition finance as a foundation of ASEAN’s sustainable future.

He praised Carlsberg Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability and lauded its leadership team as “a winning team” driving growth, innovation and a challenger mindset.

Andersen also noted a 33 per cent increase in international assignments and ongoing workplace enhancements.

With sustained investments in technology, people and innovation, Carlsberg Malaysia continues to futureproof its business while delivering exceptional brews and experiences.
