SARATOK: A mysterious coffin was found by the public here at a landfill site here on Sunday night.
News of the discovery went viral after it was posted on Facebook.
The news also attracted mixed responses from many netizens. As a result, the police are investigating the case. Saratok District Police chief, DSP Mordani Tanin, when contacted, confirmed the discovery of the mysterious coffin. He said police rushed to the landfill site after receiving calls from the public yesterday.
He stressed that no body was found inside the coffin. “There were only rags in it,” he said.
Mordani also advised the public not to panic over the discovery. Police investigations, he said, did not find any criminal elements in the case.
Police, he added, were awaiting reports or complaints from villagers on encroachment of cemeteries.
