KUCHING: A delegation of academics from Jiangsu Normal University Kewen College, China, visited TEGAS Digital Village (TDV) today to gain first hand exposure to Sarawak’s innovation ecosystem and technology driven entrepreneurship landscape.
The visit formed part of the International Staff Mobility Programme organised by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), bringing together academia and industry to strengthen knowledge exchange and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Led by the college’s dean, Prof. Hu Funian, the 12-member delegation comprised deputy deans, directors, associate professors and lecturers from the university’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, School of Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Artificial Intelligence and Software, School of Management, and School of Arts and Sciences.
Representing TEGAS, Senior Manager for Strategic Planning and Collaboration, Afida Khasuma Zaidi, briefed the delegation on Sarawak’s innovation ecosystem and the agency’s role in nurturing entrepreneurship and supporting startup development.
The delegation was introduced to TEGAS’ entrepreneurship programmes, startup incubation initiatives and ecosystem building efforts, including the role of TEGAS Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hubs in fostering innovation across the state.
The session also highlighted strategic partnerships that have strengthened Sarawak’s technology ecosystem, while providing insights into how government agencies support innovation driven enterprises.
The programme included an interactive discussion between the delegates and TEGAS representatives, followed by a tour of TEGAS Digital Village’s facilities and networking sessions with startups, entrepreneurs and tenants based at the innovation hub.
Dr Connie Lim Keh Nie from the UNIMAS Business School accompanied the delegation throughout the visit.
According to a press statement by TEGAS, the visit reinforced knowledge exchange between academia and industry while showcasing Sarawak’s growing innovation ecosystem and collaborative approach to entrepreneurship, startup growth and technology based innovation.
