LIMBANG: A late-night rescue mission by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) ended on a heartening note after a pet cat stranded high on a tree branch at Bukit Hitam was safely brought down and reunited with its owner.

The incident unfolded at about 9.07pm on Tuesday (May 12) when the Limbang District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from a member of the public reporting that the animal had become trapped on a tree near a residential area.

Responding swiftly, a four-member rescue unit from Squad Charlie, led by Lance Corporal (PA) Rosnani Jahidi, was dispatched to the scene to carry out the operation.

Upon arrival, rescuers discovered that the cat was perched at a considerable height, making it difficult to reach without specialised equipment.

The team deployed ladders and ropes before carefully approaching the frightened animal.

In a display of patience and calm handling, the rescuers eventually managed to coax the cat into the hands of one of the personnel before bringing it safely to the ground.

The animal was later returned unharmed to its relieved owner.

The operation ended at 9.50pm after the team ensured the area was safe and all equipment had been properly cleared from the site.
