KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) has dismissed as false claims circulating online that Batang Lupar 1 Bridge will be closed this Sunday (Jun 7).
In a notice posted on its Facebook page yesterday (Jun 4), the department clarified that the bridge will remain open to road users despite a viral message alleging that it would be closed because certain contractor works had yet to be completed.
PWD Sarawak stressed that the information being shared online is untrue and urged the public not to be misled by unverified reports.
“Batang Lupar 1 Bridge will continue to be open to road users,” it said.
However, the department noted that several minor works are still being carried out in the area.
Road users have been advised to comply with all safety instructions and traffic signs while travelling through the work zone.
The department also reminded the public to obtain information through its official communication channels to avoid confusion caused by inaccurate reports.
The clarification comes amid public interest in the bridge, which serves as an important link for motorists travelling through the area.
