KUCHING: Leading oral care brand Colgate, in partnership with the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA), is bringing its nationwide Free Dental Check-Up initiative to East Malaysia, with a series of pop-up clinics scheduled across Sarawak.
The initiative aims to encourage regular dental visits and raise awareness on the importance of early detection and preventive oral care among Malaysians.
In Kuching, residents can access the free dental check-ups at Farley 6th Mile (April 18 to 19) and Emart Tabuan Jaya (April 25 to 26), where pop-up clinics will be set up to provide direct access to oral care professionals.
The outreach will also extend to other major towns in Sarawak, with Everwin Sibu in Sibu scheduled for May 2 to 3, Farley Bintulu in Bintulu on May 9 to 10, and in Miri at Everwin Tudan (May 16-17) and Emart Riam (May 23-24).
Through the campaign, consumers can also book a free dental check-up at participating clinics nationwide by scanning a QR code found on selected Colgate product packs.
To further strengthen outreach in East Malaysia, Colgate has introduced 12 strategically located pop-up clinics across Sabah and Sarawak, offering a more accessible and interactive platform for communities to prioritise their oral health.
The initiative comes amid growing concern over oral health awareness, particularly in Sabah, where approximately 94 per cent of adults experience dental caries or cavities, compared to the national average of 85.1 per cent.
President of the MDA, Chong Zhen Feng, said expanding access to preventive care is crucial in reducing the burden of dental disease.
“Early detection through regular check-ups is critical in reducing the burden of dental disease. Through this partnership with Colgate, we are able to mobilise dental professionals in Malaysia to conduct free dental check-ups, empowering individuals to take proactive steps in managing their oral health before small issues become more serious,” he said.
Meanwhile, Senior Marketing Director of Colgate-Palmolive South ASEAN Hub, Hardik Jhaveri, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to making preventive oral care more accessible.
“While cavities are a widespread concern that can disrupt daily life, they are entirely preventable. By bringing professional dental check-ups closer to local communities, we hope to help more Malaysians take early action and prevent avoidable oral health issues,” he said.
Residents are encouraged to visit the pop-up clinics throughout April and May.
Those unable to attend can still secure a free dental check-up by scanning the QR code on participating product packs or visiting Colgate’s official website to book an appointment with a nearby dentist.
