Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi being greeted by the students of SMK Selirik as he arrives for the school’s prize-giving ceremony on Thursday.

KAPIT: Member of Parliament (MP) for Kapit Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi has commended SMK Selirik for their outstanding academic performance.

“I am impressed with the performance of the school and I am very happy to see a lot of improvement over the years.

“Students are doing better as parents are supporting the school and I hope you can continue to aim for excellence,” he said while officiating the school’s annual prize-giving ceremony on Thursday.

At the function, he announced a government grant of RM30,000 to the school’s parent–teacher association (PIBG) to carry out activities in 2019.

Meanwhile, the school’s principal Jarit Jarmit disclosed that a total of 370 students from the school were awarded for both their academic endeavours and extra-curricular activities.

“We hope that through this, it will inspire students to always try their best to be better,” he said.

Among those present during the prize-giving ceremony were the school’s senior assistant Dewis Lidek, the school’s PIBG chairman Tuai Rumah Rachmon Seta and Kapit Education Department representative Freddy Mike.
