LIMBANG: The Sarawak government is always committed to ensuring and providing a safe and comfortable river transportation system.

Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang said that continuous allocations had been channelled by the Sarawak government to the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) for such purposes.

“The allocation is to carry out improvement and maintenance work on facilities, including passenger terminals, jetties, navigation aid and many others.

“I am confident that the LSS management will be able to optimise the allocated allocations for the benefit of the people,” he said during the public awareness campaign for river safety and cleanliness as well as gotong-royong for the SK Ukong jetty here on yesterday (May 10).

He also announced a grant of RM5,000 to the Ukong Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

He then released 10,000 fish fries into the SK Ukong river and handed over 30 life jackets to the PTA.
