KUCHING: Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the assault on a school security guard in the Batu Lintang area on June 19.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the suspects, aged 34 and 40, were picked up by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Jalan Penrissen on June 22.
With these arrests, four suspects are now in custody and efforts are ongoing to locate a fifth suspect, who remains at large.
“Background checks found that three of the suspects had prior records related to violent crimes, drugs and online gambling.
“Meanwhile, urine tests discovered that two of the suspects’ result returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said in a statement.
ACP Ahsmon added that all four suspects were charged in Kuching Court on Tuesday (June 25) under Sections 324 and 447 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and criminal trespass.

If convicted under Section 324, the suspects may face three years in prison or fines or lashes of the cane or any of the two.
Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 447, the suspects can be imprisoned for a term of up to three months, or fined up to RM1,000, or both.
Recently, a 4.09-minute video clip went viral on social media and it depicted four men beating up a security guard at the school.
The footage captures a man approaching the guard before four more men appeared and attacked the guard at the school’s security hut.
Two individuals in the hut managed to escape to safety while, the security guard was beaten by four suspects inside the school premises.
