Cops on the hunt for Stampin armed robbers

KUCHING: Police are on the hunt for three men who robbed a house and took off with belongings worth around RM20,000 at Jalan Stampin Tengah here yesterday (May 10).

Acting Kuching police chief Supt Merbin Lisa confirmed they received a report on the 3.30 am incident.

“The suspects were armed and made off with the homeowner’s cash and valuables amounting to RM20,000.

“Efforts to track down the suspects are underway,” he said.

Those who have information regarding the case or the suspects should contact the nearest police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and robbery when armed or with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.

Upon conviction, the section carries up to 20 years’ jail and whipping.

There were four victims in the house and they were asleep when the robbers struck.

The robbers tied them and took them to a room where one of them stood watch over them while the other two ransacked the house.
