KUCHING: The growth of creative industries such as Torabera Anime, Comics and Games (ACG) Festival contributes not only to cultural development but also to Sarawak’s vision of positioning itself as a hub for arts and innovation.
In his address, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, said the state government remains committed to supporting the growth of creative industries.
“The ACG Festival is more than just a gathering of fans; it is a celebration of imagination, innovation, and cultural expression.
“Events like this have great potential to strengthen our creative industry, inspire the younger generation, and attract tourism to Sarawak.
“The ministry is proud to support such initiatives, and will continue to encourage platforms that showcase the diverse talents of our people,” he said.
He said this in his speech read by Batu Kitang Assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, during the event opening ceremony held at The Spring Mall here on Saturday.
Ting added that the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts recognises the importance of nurturing creative industries such as ACG, which contribute not only to cultural development but also to Sarawak’s vision of becoming a hub for arts, creativity, and innovation in the region.
“The Torabera ACG Festival, a vibrant celebration of Anime, Comics, and Games (ACG) culture, is expected to draw large crowds throughout the weekend, underscoring its growing popularity in Sarawak and beyond.
“The festival features cosplay showcases, creative art exhibitions, gaming competitions, merchandise booths, and cultural performances, making it one of the city’s most anticipated youth-driven events.
“The event serves as an important platform to showcase the creativity of local talents while fostering cultural exchange and youth engagement,” he added.
