KUCHING: A 56-year-old cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run along Jalan Stutong here yesterday morning (May 2).

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred at about 5.43 am when the victim was believed to have been struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle.

“The victim, a local man, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6.30 am by a medical assistant from Sarawak General Hospital,” he said.

The vehicle involved has yet to be identified, and police are actively tracking down the driver.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Motorists are also reminded to remain focused and exercise caution on the road at all times.
