SERIAN: The interests of the Dayak community in Sarawak will continue to be safeguarded and championed to ensure the well-being of its present and future generations.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this commitment is reflected through the implementation of various development projects that directly benefit the people, particularly those in rural areas.

Uggah pointed out that Serian had experienced rapid development over the past decade through the implementation of numerous projects under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

“A total of RM1.5 billion has been allocated through GKCDA to implement various development projects in this area.

“In addition, the Bukit Semuja state constituency has received RM125 million for the implementation of development projects that benefit local residents,” he said when speaking at the Bukit Semuja Gawai Dayak 2026 Celebration held at Kampung Riih Daso on Monday.

On social and religious development, Uggah informed the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has channelled RM450 million to houses of worship of various faiths throughout Sarawak since its establishment.

Of that amount, RM11.3 million has been allocated to fund projects involving houses of worship and religious facilities in the Bukit Semuja area.

He also stressed that unity and cooperation among all segments of society are vital to ensuring that Sarawak continues to progress, prosper and remain stable in the future.
