KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said that its closed-circuit television (CCTV) system will be fully operational again in June.

This follows its temporary suspension for enhancement works carried out by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).

It said the upgrades include installing additional CCTV poles, replacing cameras with higher-resolution units, and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) features to improve monitoring capabilities.

“Upon completion, the number of CCTV units under DBKU’s jurisdiction will increase from 35 to 80,” it said in a Facebook statement.

SMA is expected to complete the installation and fibre-optic connectivity work by the end of May, paving the way for the CCTV system to resume operations in June.

“DBKU apologises for any inconvenience caused during this upgrade process,” the statement added.
