KUCHING: The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has launched a digital system to monitor landscape maintenance works and assess contractors’ performance across the city.

The Green Management System (GMS) application will allow DBKU to keep digital records of landscaping works, verify completed jobs and identify issues or non-compliance for faster action.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the system formed part of DBKU’s digital transformation agenda.

“The development of this application is a proactive step by DBKU in introducing a more modern, systematic and technology-based monitoring approach.

“With GMS, DBKU can monitor landscape maintenance works in a more organised manner and store work records digitally.”

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the project coordinator for regional development agencies, DBKU, and Islamic affairs, said the system would improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing maintenance contracts.

He said this when officiating the Landscape Maintenance, Grass-Cutting and Drain-Cleaning Seminar for the DBKU area at the Waterfront Hotel here on Tuesday (July 14).

“Through these initiatives, DBKU remains committed to strengthening a city maintenance system that is more efficient, responsive and has integrity.”

He added that the initiative aimed to ensure a clean, safe, conducive, and high-quality urban environment for residents.
