KUCHING: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) on Tuesday launched a special publication compiling the thoughts, vision and strategic agenda of its Director-General, Datuk Dr Hazami Jahari.

The book, Agenda Pemikiran Hazami Jahari, Ketua Pengarah DBP, was launched in conjunction with the closing of the Premier Publishing Briefing Session held at the Auditorium, Wisma Persekutuan Sarawak here.

Acting Director of DBP’s Publishing Department and Head Editor of the Magazine Division, Dr Rusmani Rosmani Omar, said the publication has put together selected speeches delivered by Dr Hazami from 2023 to 2025.

“The speeches contained in this book serve as an important reference for DBP in determining its direction and development until the formulation of the Strategic Plan 2026–2030,” she said.

She added that the initiative was undertaken by DBP’s Literary Books Division in conjunction with the organisation’s 70th anniversary celebration this year.

According to her, the publication reflects DBP’s commitment to preserving institutional knowledge while documenting ideas that contribute to the development of language, literature and publishing in the country.

“DBP remains open to publication proposals and collaborations involving government agencies, non-governmental organisations, educational institutions and individuals interested in producing quality publications,” she said.

She added that the agency is prepared to provide guidance on writing, title acquisition and publishing processes whenever required.

“Sarawak possesses a wealth of local wisdom, cultural heritage and community experiences that deserve to be documented and published for future generations,” she said.

Such efforts, she noted, would help ensure the sustainability of knowledge and strengthen the nation’s intellectual and civilisational development.

Dr Rusmani also highlighted the importance of documenting speeches and official presentations as valuable references for future use.

She explained that the publication was produced through the compilation of Hazami’s speeches, which provide direction and guidance for DBP’s programmes and initiatives.

She added that the book contains 70 selected speeches divided into four sections covering language, literature, publishing and keynote addresses.

The collection, she said, offers a comprehensive overview of DBP’s role in supporting national development, modernisation and knowledge empowerment through its various programmes and initiatives.

The ceremony also recognised the contributions of DBP Sarawak, the Federal Secretary’s Office in Sarawak and various organising committees that worked together to ensure the success of both the briefing session and the book launch.
