KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister (Deputy PM) Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) Sarawak Bureau photographer, Razali Nordin, describing the late media practitioner as a committed individual whose contributions would be remembered.
Razali passed away at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here at 1.44 am today (Apr 26).
Fadillah said the late Razali had frequently covered events he attended and was known for his dedication to duty.
“The last time I met him was when I visited him at SGH on April 5 this year. I had also visited him previously when he was admitted to Normah Specialist Medical Centre in June 2016,” he said in his Facebook post.
He said Razali had been suffering from various health complications, including heart disease, kidney stones, kidney problems and diabetes.
Fadillah also prayed that Allah would place the late Razali among the faithful and grant strength and patience to his wife and family during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said the late Razali’s service and contributions in reporting news and events connecting the community and the government were deeply appreciated.
He said the late photographer would be remembered for his dedication and cheerful personality, adding that his passing was greatly felt among close friends and colleagues, including members of their badminton WhatsApp group, where he often participated in social activities.
Abdullah also called on members of the journalism and media fraternity to continue taking care of their health and welfare, while looking out for one another.
“When situations like this happen, this is where we stand together in unity to help each other,” he said when met by reporters when paying his last respects to the late Razali at Masjid At-Taqwa, Kampung Gita, here.
He added that many people knew Razali as a cameraman who was always present at numerous events, with many conveying their condolences through WhatsApp groups earlier today.
Abdullah said BERNAMA and friends would also try to provide assistance should the family require support.
