KUCHING: Efforts to strengthen digital literacy among primary school pupils received a boost through a workshop aimed at promoting the safe and responsible use of technology in education.
The Kuching District Education Office, in collaboration with SJK Chung Hua No. 5 Kuching, organised the Smart Use of DELIMa, Safe Learning Series 3 Workshop on June 18, bringing together 125 pupils and 25 facilitators for a day of hands-on digital learning activities.
The programme, supported by STEM Academy Sdn Bhd, focused on helping pupils make meaningful use of digital tools while developing safe online learning habits.
According to a statement, the workshop was designed to enhance pupils’ digital literacy and strengthen the integration of educational technology in classroom learning through the use of the DELIMa platform.

Participants were introduced to various digital learning resources available through DELIMa (Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia), which provides online learning support and educational content for pupils, teachers and parents.
One of the key activities involved guiding pupils on the responsible use of Microsoft’s Copilot as a learning support tool, particularly in helping them understand challenging Bahasa Melayu vocabulary.
The activity encouraged pupils to use technology constructively to overcome learning difficulties while building confidence in language comprehension.
Pupils were also introduced to Reading Coach through the DELIMa platform, where they practised reading English texts in a technology-supported environment aimed at improving pronunciation, fluency and reading confidence.
The workshop aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance digital literacy among pupils while encouraging the safe and responsible use of technology in education.
Organisers said the collaboration between STEM Academy and SJK Chung Hua No. 5 Kuching reflects a shared commitment among schools, education authorities and industry partners to prepare pupils for the learning demands of an increasingly digital future.
