KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof has held a series of engagements todrive sustainable development and strengthen community well-being here.

The meetings and discussions featured representatives from educational institutions, associations and non-governmental organisations as well as residents from his Petra Jaya constituency.

He said his first meeting was with the Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHE) adviser, Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit.

“OKSHE is a Sarawak government initiative aimed at preserving, revitalising, and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of old Kuching through the use of smart technology and sustainable urban development approaches.

“The initiative also forms part of Sarawak’s digital economy agenda,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook on Monday (June 8).

Fadillah also received a delegation from the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), reflecting continued engagement with the higher education sector.

The delegation was led by its Dean, Datuk Dr Johan Shamsudin Sabaruddin along with lecturer Ahmad Farhan Rosli and Deputy Registrar Masle Terhim.

He also  met representatives from the Sarawak Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) Sarawak director Hamdan Jar’ee to discuss an upcoming seminar to be organised by the agency.

He also welcomed representatives from the Sarawak Women for Women Society and the Sarawak Gerontology & Geriatrics Society (SGGS).

Community-related matters were discussed during separate meetings with the Samariang branch of the Federation of Sarawak Women’s Associations (PPWS) and Jalinan Kasih Mantan Ketua-Ketua Wanita Samariang.

“Despite a rather packed schedule today, I also had the opportunity to meet with a delegation from  Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Entopro, led by its General Manager, Razi Kodin.

“SEDC Entopro is a joint venture company established under the SEDC ecosystem to develop Sarawak’s bioeconomy industry through the use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) technology,” he added.
