MIRI: Three people were arrested, including a foreign woman suspected of drink-driving, during a large-scale crime prevention operation conducted across here in the early hours of Sunday.
The operation, carried out by the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri), also resulted in 10 traffic summonses being issued for a range of offences, including driving without a valid licence, illegal vehicle modifications, non-compliant registration plates and expired road tax.
Police said the operation involved 33 personnel, comprising five senior officers and 28 rank-and-file officers, who were deployed to conduct roadblocks, mobile patrols, snap checks and inspections of entertainment outlets throughout the district.

Roadblocks were set up at several locations from midnight, during which a foreign woman was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following checks on motorists and vehicles.
Meanwhile, inspections at entertainment outlets resulted in the arrest of two individuals for alleged drug-related offences, with both taken to a police station for further investigation.
Prior to the operation, personnel attended a briefing at the Ruai Kenyalang Hall at IPD Miri conducted by ASP Lee Yen Fang, Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division of Miri District Police, who outlined the deployment and responsibilities of officers involved.
In addition to enforcement activities, police carried out mobile patrols and spot checks in residential areas, villages and along major roads as part of efforts to deter criminal activity and maintain a visible presence in the community.
Police said the increased patrols were aimed at enhancing public confidence and reassuring residents that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in safeguarding neighbourhoods and public spaces.
IPD Miri said similar operations would continue to be conducted periodically to combat crime, enforce traffic regulations and strengthen police presence in areas frequented by the public.
The district police headquarters also urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement efforts and report suspicious activities to help maintain public safety and security.
